Project Description

The largest renovation of Tokyo Dome ever seen.

In March 2022, Tokyo Dome was reopened after undergoing the largest renovation in its history.
The most remarkable part of the renewal is the video equipment including "Main Vision” - the largest full-color LED display ever seen in a stadium in Japan, Ribbon Vision (located on the left and right outfield fences), and the displays and signage at the main gate entrance and throughout the concourse. Visitors can enjoy realistic game images and video presentations from anywhere in the stadium.
Kotobuki Seating was involved in the proposal, design, and manufacturing of the new spectator seating following the 2016 renovation. The new seats not only serve as an expansion of the existing "Diamond Box" seats behind the back nets, but also include group seats, counter seats, and a variety of other new seats for visitors to enjoy the entertainment experience.

New group and counter seats on 1st and 2nd floors

THE 3rd Platinum Box is a four-person sofa-type group seating located in the first floor third base stand. The total number of seats is 72, allowing for a total of 18 groups. The white leather upholstery of the seats combined with the dark-toned tables and partitions creates a luxurious and calming atmosphere. Equipped with monitors, power outlets, non-contact chargers, and USB ports, the room provides a relaxing and comfortable environment for spectators to watch the games.
The Sky Terrace, as the name implies, is a sofa-type group seating area with a great view, where you can enjoy the game from a high position - the block in front of the second floor seats. There are 196 seats in total, with seats for four and five people. The walls dividing each terrace are made of wood, giving it a more casual and intimate look than the Platinum Box.
A craft counter has been installed on the second floor concourse. High seats with gold studs on leather allow visitors to enjoy watching the games as if they were at a bar. For easier access, there are also standing-room-only seatings at the counter. The counter table has luggage hooks to make even the most compact personal space comfortable.

Fully renewed special balconies

The major renewals from the existing seats include the suite "THE SUITE TOKYO" and the balcony seats in each of the premium lounges.
At THE SUITE TOKYO, which operates as an annual contract seating facility for corporate clients, the seats that have been installed since the completion of the dome have been completely redesigned. The seats feature thick cushions that entirely cover the head, similar to seats in a movie theater, providing a rich sense of comfort. Dark-toned wood panels separate each seat, creating a sense of immersion. Orange stitching adds an accent to the black leather cloth.
This is the first renewal of seating in the Premium Lounge since its opening in 2008. The seat cushions are thicker than those of the existing seats, and the three-dimensional curved backrest fits the body of the occupant more securely. The upholstery has been changed from a knit material to a subdued brown leather, which, combined with the red double stitching, gives the seats a luxurious appearance. Functionality has also been improved with cup holders at the elbow tips to which trays can be attached.

Facility Overview

Opened in March 1988 as Japan's first all-weather multipurpose stadium, it is used as a venue for a wide variety of entertainment events, including baseball, live music and other concerts, exhibitions and corporate events. Following the first major renovation in 2016, the Yomiuri Shimbun Group, Yomiuri Giants, Tokyo Dome and Mitsui Fudosan have teamed up to undertake the largest-ever renovation in 2022.
