Project Description

A Multi-Purpose Arena for All Occasions

HAPPINESS ARENA is the home arena of the B1 League professional basketball team Nagasaki Velca. It will open in October 2024 as a multi-use arena for all occasions, including sports, music, and entertainment.
To achieve the appropriate layout for each scene, Kotobuki Seating's retractable seating system has been installed.

Retractable Seating System for a Multi-functional, Adaptable Arena

The HAPPINESS ARENA has a retractable seating system on the ground floor, creating a multi-functional, adaptable arena for any occasion.
The central units on the east and west sides are equipped with manual1, mobile retractable seating system. Since the main unit can be moved freely, the seating layout can be freely set according to the intended use and purpose.
A semi-automatic recessed model was installed on either side, as well as on the north and south sides. The main unit can be stored on the wall and can be effectively used to hold various events with a flat floor surface. The semi-automatic type can be deployed and stowed with a single remote control. The ability to deploy seats quickly is an appealing aspect of this system.
The retractable seating system enables an all-purpose arena that can be used for a wide variety of applications. These include game mode for basketball and other sports, concert mode for live performances, and event mode for skating rinks.

A variety of seats designed for comfort and functionality to provide the best spectator experience

The seats used in this project emphasize comfort and functionality, and various products have been introduced depending on the location. All seats have backrests and seat cushions, as well as cupholders.
The Largo seats, which are used in both the 1,314 retractable seating system and 3,773 Fixed Seating, combine voluminous cushions and a newly designed backrest to provide both storage efficiency and seating comfort. The spacious form hugs the body, so you will not get tired even after sitting for a long time.
The VIP box, where you can watch the game in a private room while enjoying a multi-course meal, is not located on the upper floors but on the first mezzanine level, where you can enjoy the most immersive view of the game. You can relax and fully experience the action in a more luxurious environment. The Paragon 755 was selected for the 124 front-row VIP seats in the VIP BOX. This premium seat combines a unique design with rich cushioning. High-quality, low-resilience urethane foam and rich vinyl leather provide a comfortable seat for an unprecedented spectator experience.
The SC-700 Courtside Chair, featuring firm back cushions and cupholders, was installed at the courtside. The Nagasaki Velca symbol is printed on the backrest, allowing spectators to enjoy exciting matches while sitting in the same chairs as the players.
In addition, Rex seats were installed in the exclusive meeting room for Nagasaki Velca's manager and players. The iconic V mark of Nagasaki Velca is prominently displayed on the interior wall, flanked by distinctive and refined seats reminiscent of the streamlined design of the 1950s. It features rich cushioning, curved armrests, and built-in cupholders for comfort. These seats are ideal for players before and after games, as they allow them to relax and concentrate at the same time.
The press area is equipped with the SD-777 series of fixed seating with independent legs that minimize vibration. Each seat is now equipped with a power outlet for PCs and cell phones. It creates a comfortable environment where people can concentrate on the event without distractions from nearby seating.

Score, Arena Stacker Chair Designed for the Arena of the Future

2,250 Score arena stacker chairs, specifically designed for arenas, were adopted. The black-based color blends into the arena space and features a matte finish designed with aesthetics in mind. The shape of the backrest is long enough to cover the lumbar region, supporting posture when seated and preventing objects from slipping off. At 3.5 kg, it is lightweight and can stack up to 50 chairs with a dedicated cart, making transport and setup easy. These chairs are ideal for enjoying live and powerful music and entertainment in the arena.

Facility Overview

HAPPINESS ARENA is a multi-functional, adaptable arena that is part of Nagasaki Stadium City, which also includes the PEACE STADIUM as well as commercial facilities, offices and a hotel. In addition to hosting large dinner shows and parties, the venue features an open-air outdoor court and a clubhouse where visitors can watch professional athletes train with intensity. Designed to maximize entertainment and provide an extraordinary experience, the central screen, scrolling screens, sound, and lighting enhance the audience’s excitement and fully showcase the power of sports and the allure of music. This allows the arena to generate and spread happiness throughout the country.
