Project Description

A major renewal for the heart of Taiwan’s baseball culture

In Taiwan, baseball is more than just a sport; it is a national passion often referred to as the “National Ball.” Its popularity continues to grow, with annual professional baseball attendance surpassing 3 million for the first time in 2025. Supporting this vibrant culture at both the professional and amateur levels is Taitung Baseball Village, a major venue that hosts more than 300 games each year.
Since opening in 2006, the facility has played a central role in promoting regional sports. However, after nearly three decades of use, deterioration of the spectator seating had become a pressing issue. To address this, a large-scale renovation was carried out at both the First and Second Baseball Fields as part of the Sports Administration’s “National Sports and Tournament Environment Optimization Plan.” By fully renewing the seating, the venue has been revitalized as a stadium that meets modern standards of comfort and safety.

Over 4,000 latest-model stadium seats

At the First Baseball Field, more than 4,000 seats were replaced with the latest stadium models. The BLM-7172 was selected for its high-density polyethylene construction, molded using an air-injection process that contours naturally to the human body and significantly enhances seating comfort. The chair also features a double-shell hollow structure designed to absorb the impact of hard-hit balls, reducing damage to the seats and minimizing the risk of secondary injuries caused by ball rebounds.
All seats are now equipped with armrests and cup holders, further improving spectator convenience. The tip-up seat mechanism secures sufficient legroom, creating a far more comfortable viewing environment. The blue and gray color scheme was chosen to align with Taitung County’s new logo, bringing visual unity and a renewed sense of energy to the stadium.

All-weather VIP seats and an inclusive viewing environment

For the 213 VIP seats, the ALLWe VSS-032 was introduced. This cushioned stadium seat is designed for both indoor and outdoor use and features an ergonomic three-dimensional curved backrest that follows the natural line of the spine to provide firm support. Thick molded polyurethane cushions ensure comfort even during long games that extend into extra innings.
As its name, ALLWe (All Weather), suggests, this model uses materials with excellent resistance to water, heat, and impact. The vinyl upholstery is highly waterproof and stain-resistant, allowing for efficient daily maintenance. In addition, protective covers with identification numbers help keep the seats in optimal condition when they are not in use.
Creating an inclusive viewing environment was another key objective of the renovation. Thirty-two barrier-free seats were newly installed, featuring extended platforms that provide ample space and handrails for wheelchair users. Additional infrastructure improvements, such as PU waterproofing and anti-slip treatments on stairways, further enhance safety and allow all visitors to enjoy the facility with confidence.

Facility overview

Taitung Baseball Village is a cornerstone of regional baseball promotion, comprising the First and Second Baseball Fields. Hosting more than 300 games annually, it has long supported baseball culture in Taitung, widely regarded as the birthplace of youth baseball in Taiwan. The renovation also included seating upgrades at the Second Baseball Field, covering 1,334 general seats, 211 VIP seats, and 12 barrier-free seats. Through this comprehensive renewal, the facility’s longevity has been extended, and the spectator environment has been fully optimized for the next generation of baseball fans.
