A new playroom that nurtures children’s potential at a historic nursery school

Kiyotaka Little Pumpkins is an accredited nursery school based on Montessori education, respecting each child’s independence while fostering sensitivity through daily learning. To unlock children’s potential, the school has long invited professional instructors to provide authentic experiences in areas such as painting, English, aerobics, and traditional Japanese dance. In 2024, it celebrated its 100th anniversary.
In May 2025, a new hall building was completed as part of the renewed school facilities. Within it, a playroom was created, featuring a stage equipped with large mirrors and lighting. To accommodate audiences, a retractable seating system with 120 seats was installed. These tiered seats can be deployed or retracted as needed.

Retractable Seating System with wall storage, available only when needed

The installed system is the RSP-R-CU22 retractable seating with cushion benches. Reflecting the school’s wish to make effective use of open space, this system was chosen for its comfort, functionality, and safety—all well suited to a children’s environment. The room can be easily reconfigured to suit different activities, from daily programs to special events.
The seating is manually operated and stored against the rear wall of the playroom, with the tiers stacked vertically. When stored, the space remains open for activities such as dance or gymnastics classes. When needed, the lowest tier can be smoothly pulled out using a dedicated handle. The tiered layout provides clear sightlines to the stage from any seat, allowing parents to easily watch their children during performances. Each seat has a width of 450 mm for adult comfort, while the step heights are set lower so that children can climb up and down safely on their own.

Benches that combine comfort and easy maintenance

Our cushion bench allows children and parents to sit freely side by side. School staff visited our showroom to test the comfort and usability before making their decision. The 120 mm thick cushions provide a soft seating surface, while L-shaped cushions at the front edge gently support the legs.
The cushions can be removed without tools, making them easy to wash whenever necessary. This ensures a hygienic environment even with daily use by many children. Upholstered in a gentle gray tone, they harmonize with the school’s calm atmosphere and create a reassuring environment for both children and parents. When stored, the cushions face the wall to reduce impact in case of accidental contact—reflecting careful attention to safety.

Facility overview

Kiyotaka Little Pumpkins traces its origins back to 1924, when its predecessor, Kiyotaka Nursery, first opened. For four generations, it has been cherished by the local community as an accredited nursery school. Operated by SWC Seikoukai, the organization now manages eleven accredited nursery schools and certified childcare centers across Fukuoka, Yokohama, and Tokyo.
In 2025, the nursery relocated to new facilities, offering an enhanced environment for nurturing children’s sensitivity and creativity. The newly established playroom, equipped with retractable seating, supports a wide range of activities—from school performances to parent events. With its functionality and soft seating comfort, it provides a welcoming space for both children and families.
