Multipurpose Hall

Project Description

More than half of the building is devoted to activities for the Shinkamata ward residents

The Shinkamata 1-Chome complex, known as “KAM KAM Shinkamata,” is a large-scale complex facility that was established in May 2022. From the second basement to the fourth floor, there is the Shinkamata Ward Activity Center that can be used for local club activities and gatherings, as well as a childcare center, a junior high and high school student plaza, a child-rearing plaza, a community comprehensive support center, and a senior station.
The Shinkamata Ward Activity Center, which occupies more than half of the building, is equipped with large and small multipurpose rooms, meeting rooms, an art room, a cooking workshop, and a music studio. The large multipurpose room, which can accommodate up to 450 people, is located on the second basement floor. From the time of construction planning, many uses were envisaged by the local government in addition to a variety of uses by ward residents, such as for recitals, lectures, small sports, and community events. This was the reason why KOTOBUKI SEATING’s full automatic retractable seating and stackable chairs were chosen.

Versatile space utilization with luxurious full automatic retractable seating

The full automatic retractable seating in the multipurpose room (large) is a staircase style that can be deployed and stowed away. It is usually folded compactly and stowed against the wall at the rear of the room. When using it, connect the remote control and press the button to deploy the tiered floor and erect the chairs. It takes approximately three and a half minutes for a 216-seat auditorium to emerge. A fully-fledged hall can be created in no time with little manpower. Stairs were built behind the last row that is connected to the floor, providing convenient access for the audience to their seats from the front as well as from the rear.
The seats mounted on the retractable seating are Type L, which are both compact and luxurious. The natural wood used for the backrests and armrests instantly enhances the auditorium-like atmosphere. The backrest has a three-dimensional curve that comfortably conforms to the sitting posture, and the thick seat is made of urethane foam with just the right amount of firmness to provide lasting comfort even after long hours of sitting.

Up to 450 seats can be set up in combination with compact stackable chairs

Stackable chairs are placed between the full automatic retractable seats and the stage, depending on the number of seats required for the event. “TAG” the wooden stackable chairs were chosen to achieve a maximum seating capacity of 450. It features an upper platform with a seat pad placed on a single-piece molded plywood, and a perfect depth, allowing many chairs to be lined up while maintaining the necessary aisle dimensions in the event of an evacuation. To achieve a high level of comfort despite its small size, the seat pad was extended around the waist for a soft feel. The wood and upholstery are matched to the retractable seats, creating a sense of unity throughout the entire seating area.
For workshops and training sessions, movable tables and stackable chairs are laid out. This multipurpose room expands the range of activities for ward residents with a variety of uses, including “hall mode” using a flat floor and retractable seating, as well as “workshop mode” using tables.

Facility Overview

The Shinkamata 1-Chome complex, known as “Kam-Kam ShinKamata” was built on the site of the former Ota Ward Residents Center, which was demolished due to age. From the perspective of effective use and integration of facilities, including neighboring facilities, it was constructed under the Ota Ward Public Facilities Management Policy. It was established together with a Shinkamata Ward Activity Center, a childcare center, a childcare plaza, a junior and high school students plaza, a comprehensive community support center, and a senior station. Through various activities such as community activities and lifelong learning, the complex connects people with people / local community, and contributes to the exchange of people of all ages as well as to the creation of liveliness.
