Project Description

A new type of dome stadium incorporating elements of a theme park

The BELLUNA DOME is a historic stadium. It is known as the home stadium of the Saitama Seibu Lions professional baseball team. The large-scale renovation of the stadium completed in March 2021 offers diverse ways to enjoy watching the baseball games. There is a lineup of 42 different types of seats to embody one of the stadium’s concepts of “turning the facility into a ballpark.”

Kotobuki Seating supplied 12 types of stadium seats to four areas including behind the backstop, outfield seats and group seats. All the seats have been equipped with cup holders to improve the viewing environment.

A diverse lineup of seats to liven up behind the backstop

The American Express Premium Excite® Seats newly installed behind the backstop are spacious seats with a width of 570 mm per person. The backrest is divided into two parts: the upper part and the lower part. It fits snuggly to the area from the shoulder to the back and also the waist to support a comfortable viewing posture. These seats are upholstered in highly breathable artificial leather which does not become stuffy even when sat in for long period of time. These seats are built slightly lower than the ground level. Therefore, it is possible to enjoy watching games which pack a punch right in front of you as though you are really standing in the batter’s box. A special lounge has been established behind the seats. It is possible to enjoy buffets and similar there.

There are several types of seats lined up in each area in the stands behind the backstop. The seats at the very front are the American Express Premium® Seats. These seats are made by a group company of Kotobuki Seating called Quinette Gallay based in France. These paired seats offer plenty of space. They are characterized by their rounded backrest and seat which completely envelops those sitting in them. The Behind the Backstop Executive Seats with a large backrest and seat ensure a comfortable seating experience by having a width large enough per person.

As their name implies, the Bullpen Front Row Seats located directly above the bullpen where pitching practice takes place are so close to the action you can practically hear the players’ breathing and the roar of the ball. The backrest rises higher than with the other seats to support a style which is closer to the field. The seats also have a desk. That means it is possible to rest your elbows and lean forward while watching the game.

In addition, Behind the Backstop Counter Seats (VSS-011 type) with tables and Behind the Backstop Reserved Seats (VSS-032 type) with slim seats have been set up at the rear of the backstop. It is possible to select the best seat to suit your viewing style and the number of people in your party.

Embodying a new style of viewing games in a group

Original group seats have been set up so that multiple people, such as family and friends, can enjoy watching baseball games together.

The Behind the Backstop Private Boxes are surrounded by panels on three sides. They are designed like private rooms with a mini table where it is possible to place drinks and snacks. A simple sofa accommodating four people has been placed in an L-shape so that it is possible to easily see both the field and your friends. These are moderately firm and comfortable to sit on as they are firmly filled with urethane foam.

The au Jibun Bank Behind the Backstop Party Terrace has been established at the very back of the backstop. This is an area which can accommodate six to eight people. A comfortable sofa has been placed here in a U-shape. There is plenty of space. In addition, the flooring uses a different material to the aisles. This gives it even more of a private area feel. This seating can also be used by those accompanied by children with peace of mind. Another feature of this terrace is that it is possible to freely enjoy yourself without having to worry about other spectators behind you as it is placed at the rearmost seating of the stadium.

There are also the au Jibun Bank Field View Sofa seats which you can stretch out and relax in the field view area which juts out onto the ground on the first and third base sides.

Outfield seating converted to seats

The outfield grass seating, which had been popular with fans for many years, has been transformed into seats.

BLM-8000 series seats have been adopted. These have been used in many stadiums since their release. They are characterized by the slimness which ensures ample space in front of them when leaving them with the seats raised. This makes it possible to follow the support style of the grass seats of standing up to cheer when a chance comes.

When the user sits down, the three-dimensional curved form firmly supports the body of the user to provide a comfortable seating experience with padding on the seating surface. The three randomly arranged green colors reminiscent of the surrounding Sayama Hill combine with the architectural feature of a dome in coexistence with nature to blend into the scenery.

Facility Overview

The BELLUNA DOME opened as the Seibu Lions Stadium, the home of the Seibu Lions, in 1979. The large-scale renovation completed in March 2021 included a major update to the audience seating. It also featured the establishment of a large play facility combining baseball with other forms of fun outside the stands, indoor food area and other facilities. The stadium is often used for live shows and concerts when there are no baseball games. Both men and women of all ages enjoy a diverse range of events at the stadium.
