Opened SAGA Arena – an entertainment arena for the new generation

SAGA Sunrise Park is a major sports hub giving dreams and excitement to the residents of Saga Prefecture. SAGA Arena opened in May 2023. This facility is an entertainment arena for the new generation. It has become the face of SAGA Sunrise Park.

The environment at SAGA Arena has been designed to allow enjoyment of entertainment to the fullest. For example, the three jumbo screens equipped as standard for the first time in Japan produce impressive images and lighting. Moreover, the cone-shaped audience seating with a maximum gradient of 35 degrees makes it easy to view games from anywhere.

The audience seating capacity on the first to fourth floors is approximately 8,400. Kotobuki Seating supplied retractable seating on the first floor, and a wide variety of fixed seats and VIP seats on the second, third and fourth floors.

Retractable seating which enables flexible space use and smooth event management

There were two requirements for the main arena which hosts a variety of events from sports and concerts to international conferences and exhibitions: to be able to use one space flexibly and to be able to ensure smooth event setup.

That is why a retractable seating with a total of 2,128 seats was installed on the first floor of the arena.

The retractable seating can be stored on the wall when it is not in use. It can then be deployed and stored again with one button on a remote control when necessary. The work to raise and lower the seats manually is also simple. This makes it possible to setup and take down events with the minimal time and manpower. A large floor space appears when the seating is stored. Therefore, this also plays a role in creating space for large trucks to enter and exit the arena.

The retractable seating is equipped with an intermediate stage. It is possible to control the deployment of the seating from this intermediate stage. Accordingly, the floor area and audience seating capacity can be adjusted depending on the situation.

The new and exciting Lux arena seats were chosen as the retractable seating and the fixed seats installed on the second to fourth floors.

The three-layer cushioning consisting of upholstery, high-density urethane and corrugated springs alleviates the feeling of fatigue that comes from sitting down. The high backrests and large seats firmly support the body of the user. All the seats have been equipped with drink holders so it is possible to eat and drink in comfort. The upholstery is unified in a chic black color. This color scheme complements events.

Greatest variety of audience seating in Japan

Another major attraction of SAGA Arena is the wide variety of seating options. There are nine types of seats. This allows audience members to enjoy events in their own style.

The couple seats consist of two seats in a set. The highly cushioned leather-upholstered seats have no partitions. These spacious seats allow couples to relax and enjoy events together.

The family and group seats, which can accommodate two to five people, allow users to watch games while eating and drinking with family and friends gathered around one large table. The tables are shaped to suit the number of people sitting. The chairs can swivel. This also makes communication and watching games pleasant.

Lux has been adopted for the amenity seats and box seats. The amenity seats have side tables with drink holders between the seats to improve convenience. The box seats can also accommodate strollers.

The other seating options include box seating and counter seats.

Fine-quality premium suites and seats brimming with individuality

The premium floor, the third floor, has been equipped with four premium suites. Each of these suites has its own unique interior design and furniture to give them a personality distinctive of Saga. This has created fine-quality private spaces.

Kotobuki Seating supplied two types of seats for the balcony seats in the premium suites.

The first type of seat is custom-made cushion seats made of black leather. The voluminous backrest and seat which envelop the entire body of the user provide elegant seating comfort. The width per seat is a spacious 550 mm. This means they are perfect as VIP seats to relax in comfort.

The second type of seat is the R100J SKY sports seat made by a company called Sparco S.p.A. known for its motorsport-related supplies. It is possible to recline these seats using levers equipped to both sides of the seat. The seating comfort and design gives these seats a special feel.

Facility Overview

SAGA Arena opened in May 2023 as one of the largest multi-purpose arenas in Kyushu. It hosts a variety of events from professional sports games such as those of the Hisamtisu Springs volleyball team and the SAGA BALLOONERS basketball team to concerts by popular artists and also international conferences and exhibitions.

The audience seating with a capacity of approximately 8,400 on the first to fourth floors has the greatest variety of seating options in Japan. This allows audience members to enjoy events in their own style. Emphasis has also been placed on a design which facilitates accessibility for the elderly and disabled. For instance, wheelchair seats with 360-degree viewing, wide aisles and ample multipurpose restrooms have been installed.

The opening match of the Hisamitsu Springs volleyball team in the V.LEAGUE DIVISION1 WOMEN held on October 21, 2023 attracted 7,372 people. That is the highest attendance figure for the V.LEAGUE WOMEN.
