Taiwan's time-honored university: Blending tradition with modernity!

Fu Jen Catholic University (hereinafter 'Fu Jen University') is Taiwan's only Roman Pontifical university having a rich history and tradition spanning over a century. The university's lush green campus in Taipei City is home to 12 faculty buildings and facilities, including an affiliated hospital.
The school buildings date back to the establishment of the University and they have now been renovated to suit the times while preserving their history. In December 2022, the communication space and Classroom DG308 in the Jonah Building underwent renovations.

Revamped classroom: Where functionality meets style!

Classroom DG308 was renovated to 'cater to diverse purposes'.
The newly introduced saets are a fixed stand-alone type; they complement the fixed-type lecture desks. Previously, the classroom employed office desks and chairs, but with the renovation, they have been replaced with lecture room-exclusive furniture. As times evolve and academic styles change, so do the functions required of furniture.
The desks' top panels are 400 mm wide so students can easily place their laptops and tablets on them. A power outlet is installed in the center of the five-seater desk for added convenience. The desk legs are embellished with the University emblem, giving a personalized feel to this classroom than other lecture rooms.
Each seat is stand-alone and automatically tips toward the desk when you stand up. This creates space for smooth passage between the seats and the desk at the back. We designed the seat with a three-dimensional, molded-resin curved seat that snuggles around you when you are seated, used warm wood for the backrest, and blended design and functionality. The backrest, with its unique rounded shape, is designed with a gentle S-curve at the top to make it easy to hang backpacks.

The classroom is painted in monotone earth colors with the aim of creating a space where students can concentrate on their studies. The seats, in coordination with the color scheme of the room, come in two different shades of gray. The soft natural light pouring in from the windows creates a cheerful and calm ambience in the classroom.

Along with the renovation, the interior and furniture of Classroom DG308 have been totally transformed. The classroom has undergone a complete makeover and can now be used for more interactive classroom activities like presentations and group work. Apart from this, it can also host degree-awarding ceremonies for medical graduates and capping ceremonies for nurses.

Facility Overview

Fu Jen University is the only private university in Taiwan with 12 faculties and a hospital affiliated to the Faculty of Medicine. It focuses on 'nurturing interdisciplinary talent' to conduct research in intermediate areas between one's own specialized field and other adjacent fields. It offers a campus where students from different faculties and departments can freely interact with each other.
