Project Description

The largest entertainment facility in the Tama area newly opened in Tachikawa

In April 2020, a new urban area “GREEN SPRINGS” opened on the north side of JR Tachikawa Station, adjacent to the Showa Kinen Park. TACHIKAWA STAGE GARDEN, the area’s first large-scale private hall and next-generation entertainment facility, was opened in a corner of the area developed based on the concept of “A New Entertainment Venue Where the Sky, Earth, and People Unite”

The TACHIKAWA STAGE GARDEN boasts the largest seating capacity in the Tama area, with approximately 2,500 seats, and can accommodate approximately 3,000 people in standing use, making it suitable for a wide range of events and performances in addition to music and other entertainment. It is a hall, a theater, an outdoor theater, a live music club, and an event space - a completely new next-generation entertainment space.

The first Matrix system in Japan ready for all types of performances and the original balcony seating

In order to accommodate a wide variety of performances, the first-ever “Matrix” system in Japan was adopted for the arena area on the first floor. The Matrix system is a new seat arrangement system for arena seating, in which chairs are inserted into a frame that serves as the legs of the seats, with two or three seats connected at a time. The frames are arranged in alternating rows to keep the individual chairs firmly in place and orderly. The seats are attached by simply inserting, yet remain firmly in place, allowing for a more orderly setup with less workload than when stacking chairs are arranged. This system is also used at the Royal Albert Hall, which has been called the best concert hall in London, and has been well received.

Ease of installation is not the only advantage of the Matrix system. The seats can be folded compactly, creating a much larger space for standing at live events than when pipe chairs or stacking chairs are lined up. We assure you that you will be able to enjoy the event to the fullest without spoiling the climax of the event. These wide spaces also serve as a wide aisles for entry and exit, and contributes to the evacuation flow line in the event of an emergency. The reason why the system was selected is that convenience during construction, comfort during performance, and safety during passage were highly evaluated factors.

The seats to be installed in the Matrix system are the CS01HG, a newly developed seat based on Kotobuki Seating’s CS01 Retractable Seating System. The high back design provides greater seating comfort than previous products. The backrest is quilted and has a three-tiered structure to give it visual volume and an active appearance, and to provide firm support for each part of the body, including the shoulder blades and the lumbar region. In addition, the upholstery is made of a highly durable 3D mesh with excellent breathability, which prevents stuffiness and ensures comfortable seating even after sitting on it for a long time. The seats on the second and third floors are also grouped together in the same design to achieve a sense of unity throughout the venue.
The balcony seats are basically end-stage seats, but to accommodate various stage positions and programs, custom-designed balcony seats are lined up for easy viewing and comfortable seating from either side and in any posture.

Expectations for the new entertainment facility were rising even before its opening.

Prior to the opening, a two-day preview was held, attracting a large number of interested parties and revealed the high expectations and attention the entertainment industry has for this project. The programs of the “Grand Opening Series” , which included an orchestra concert, live pop music, and a performance of the “Symphony No. 9” by the Beethoven Orchester Bonn, were cancelled or postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The layout of the auditorium is changed depending on the event.
