Project Description

Opened in Fukuoka in December of 2018, the Teriha Sekisui House Arena is the largest arena in Western Japan, with 5,042 audience seats. The roof is 15 meters high, and it can also hold international competitions for sports like volleyball, and rhythmic sport gymnastics.

Semi-automatic retractable seating was used for the 1st floor of the Main Arena

The main floor of the arena can hold three basketball courts, or four volleyball courts. For audience seating which can be deployed specifically for events or games, retractable seating (also known as telescopic seating), was used. Seats can also be setup facing from four sides to surround the center court.

The movement to open or store this retractable seating is electrically controlled, and with this semi-automatic model, seats contained in each level can be opened or stored by hand as well. The main feature of this model is the convenience of use it offers.

The seats used are those from the VISION series, which excel in comfort and storage functions. The large backs to the seats offer great support for those sitting in them. The bottom seats flip up automatically when the occupant stand up, which gives them a compact profile, and makes aisle easy to pass through. There are 1,824 seats of this type, comprising a third of all audience seating.
