The Biwako Hall Center for the Performing Arts Shiga, opened in September of 1998.
The Ensemble Hall is a 323-seat hall which features interior design based on the waves of Lake Biwako. This is the smallest of the three halls in the Biwako Hall Center for the Performing Arts Shiga.
Woods was used for the back of the seats to create the optimal amount of sound reflection. In the back, the armrests, and the legs, thick wood is used, at least 20 mm thicker than that normally used in theatres. The space is in use for events such as small classic concerts.
The fabric used to upholster the seats is based on the prefecture’s flower, the Rhododendron. The color is an emerald green, inspired by the color of moonlight.
