Project Description

An Advanced acute care hospital that continues to support the health of local residents

In recent years, the environment surrounding hospitals has changed dramatically, prompting a nationwide reforms of the healthcare system in anticipation of 2025. Against the backdrop of government-led initiatives in medical and long-term care reform, Saiseikai Utsunomiya Hospital—as a key regional hospital that has long supported community health—has constructed a new South Building. This addition is designed to enhance the hospital’s ability to deliver high-quality care as a trusted provider of advanced acute medical services.

Further enhanced medical services

Constructed in about a year, the South Building was developed with a focus on strengthening functions related to advanced acute care. The first floor features several new facilities: the Chemotherapy Center, which aims to reduce waiting times and provide a calming environment; the Admission Support Center, which offers detailed guidance and personalized assistance to ease patients’ anxiety about admission; and the Oral Care Unit, which helps prevent complications associated with surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy.

Miyanowa Hall, which can also serve as a disaster ward

The auditorium on the second floor, named Miyanowa Hall in the hope that it will become a familiar and valued space for the local community, accommodates up to 380 people. The main seating area features a 200-seat Retractable Seating System, which can be easily deployed or retracted with automated controls. This system allows the space to be converted into a temporary hospital ward in the event of a disaster, with medical gas lines embedded in the walls to support emergency care.

The retractable seating can be adjusted in depth to suit event size, making it versatile for a wide range of uses. Positioned in front of the retractable seating are mobile tables and plush stacking chairs. The tables are equipped with a lever-operated mechanism that allows them to be moved laterally while in use, offering both flexibility and a clean, modern design that suits any environment.

The stacking chairs feature a simple, understated look and an ergonomic structure that provides long-lasting comfort. Both the chairs and tables are designed to match the specifications of the Retractable Seating System, enhancing the hall’s dignified and cohesive interior aesthetic.

Since its opening, Miyanowa Hall has hosted public lectures and other events for the local community, and future plans include educational seminars for students on the latest medical practices. The hall is expected to remain a vital community resource, continuing to safeguard the health and well-being of local residents.
