Project Description

Active Room set up in Komatsu City's first compulsory education school, 'Shoto Midori Gakuen'

In April 2021, a new compulsory education school, 'Shoto Midori Gakuen', was founded in Komatsu City in Ishikawa Prefecture. Shoto Midori Gakuen was created by integrating three elementary schools and a junior high school, and was built on the site of the former Shoto Junior High School by renovating part of the existing school building.
The 'Active Room' is located next to the atrium space at the entrance to the school. It was created as a space that can be used for a variety of activities that are unique to a compulsory education school.
The Active Room is adjacent to the children's club space in the school building and they are connected by a single door. The room is used for school activities during the weekdays, and can be used by the children's club after school hours and on holidays.

Motorized retractable stage for various activities

In addition to using it as a mini gymnasium for dancing and light exercise, the Active Room is also used for lectures and ceremonies with external speakers, and for presentations by the students. The DS-100 motorized retractable stage is designed for diverse activities.
The gymnasium at Shoto Junior High School already had a motorized retractable stage, thus its utility was well recognized.
The stage can be stored on the wall to provide a huge space during recess and other times when children are running around the entire floor.
It is set up during ceremonies and presentations by simply connecting a remote control and pressing a button.
It can be expanded from its stored position in just about three minutes. Any faculty or staff member can easily deploy it because of the simple operation. The motorized retractable stage that can be quickly folded and unfolded depending on the usage, has become an indispensable item for the Active Room.
The 6m wide, 3m deep, and 30cm high stage is compact in comparison to the one in the gymnasium, but it is ideal for ceremonies and presentations. Even with its modest height, it can attract the children's attention.
It is a unique setting where children and students can take the stage and deliver their presentations with the utmost sincerity.
The wooden stage nicely complements the warmth of the school building and the ambience of the Active Room.

Public speaking and expressing oneself in front of people are very important opportunities for the next-generation children. It is hoped that the children's future will be shaped by their studies at Shoto Midori Gakuen and their activities in the Active Room.
