Izumiya Yui-Terrace
Izumiya Yui-Terrace
Sep. 13,2021
Multipurpose Hall
Others
Project Description
Community Development Center 'Izumiya Yui-Terrace' opened on 4F of a supermarket
'Izumiya', a mall chain operating 81 stores* across the Kansai region, has opened a community development support center, 'Izumiya Yui-Terrace'. The center is in operation on the 4th floor of the Kawachinagano store, which has a long history of 48 years.
In addition to the offices of Kawachinagano City Council of Social Welfare and a volunteer center, the spacious 4th floor houses a 'co-working space' readily available for all, as well as a 'multipurpose space' that you can reserve and use for your gatherings or meetings.

Movable furniture and fixtures open up many options
There are two types of multipurpose spaces. A 'large multipurpose space' that can be used for gatherings or lectures; and a 'small multipurpose space - divided into small sections A, B, and C' that can be used for meetings.
The furniture for the multipurpose spaces was required to be easy to use and abundant in color variations. Also, it was important for it to be lightweight and mobile, so that chairs could be added or removed and room layout changed quickly as per the need. That was the main reason for choosing the
FC-304 series
of stacking chairs designed by Kotobuki Seating. The FC-304 series has an impressive square form, and the most striking feature of the series is it's ultra-light weight. The chair weighs only 3.4 kg. This reduces the time and effort required to change the room layout. The opening in the lower part of the backrest is convenient for moving the chair. The inclusive design enables even people with short stature to carry it easily without dragging it on the floor. Chairs of five colors - chic monotone (white, black), bright pink, bright green, and bright blue, are arranged randomly. This colorful arrangement gives a very lively impression to the space even when it is not in use.
Some of the walls of the rooms are sliding partitions made of 'Osaka Kawachi wood', a locally grown timber. The upper half of the partitions has been kept transparent, making the space feel brighter and more spacious. You can push back the partitions to the edges to include the surrounding space. You can be really creative about using the space.
Wooden stackable chairs add warmth to the space
Adjacent to the large multipurpose space is a co-working space. Visitors of the mall use this space to rest for a while, local residents visit this space to relax, and students even use it for studying.
The '
Wooden Series - FC-7545D
' of chairs used in the co-working place blends well with the tables made of Osaka Kawachi wood. The chairs with molded plywood seats with natural wood surface and strong steel legs blend neatly with the wood texture of the tables. The oval-shaped intuitive opening at the top of the backrest is designed to comfortably pull back the chair with your hand. The seat cushions use colorful pads that not only enhance the comfort but also render the space colorful.
In addition to the co-working space, the chairs in the Wooden Series are used in cafes. They are also used at the consultation counter of the City Council of Social Welfare. The warmth-filled design creates a sense of harmony throughout the space.
Izumiya Yui-Terrace' has just opened up as a space where the local residents can casually drop by and interact with a variety of people. As a new symbol of Kawachinagano city, it is expected to help revitalize the town.
Facility Overview
Kawachinagano city developed as a new town from the 1970s till the early 1990s. In a town with a declining birthrate and an aging population, the shopping center 'Izumiya Kawachinagano' continues to support the local residents.
In April 2021, the entire 4th floor, which used to sell household goods and home appliances, was leased for free to a local public organization to start 'Izumiya Yui-Terrace Kawachinagano', a Community Development Support Center for residents. This new space, created through the collaboration between industry, government, and academia, is attracting a lot of attention for its potential to revitalize the town.
