Theater / Hall

Project Description

Mihara Performing Arts Center is a cultural facility having a hall, rehearsal rooms, and practice rooms, built in a corner of Miyaura Park near the city's center. It was nicknamed 'Popolo (Italian for people or public)' in the hope that it would be a base for citizens' activities and a place to relax and refresh.

The main hall is furnished with a fly tower and orchestra pit. The hall is a fusion of a rectangular shoebox style with excellent acoustics and an enclosed space where the audience can see the stage clearly, creating a genuine artistic space. The seats in the hall are designed by Maki and Associates, the same firm that has designed the building. Diverse stage performances such as concerts, musicals, operas and ballets are held here.

A rehearsal room on the second floor is available for public use, and can be used for mini-concerts, projections, and lectures. Along with a lawn, a low-rise foyer and a small café add to the courtyard's flora. A cheerful place heralding 'the creation of a next generation city' along with the citizens, has been formed.
