The council offices belonging to Tokyo’s Hachijo Town on Hachijo-jima Island opened for business on May 7, 2013. Replacing the old town hall, which had served the community for 50 years, the new building was designed to be earthquake-resistant and convenient for the local people, constructed with multipurpose hall attached. Products by Kotobuki Seating were selected for both the assembly and multipurpose halls.
A bright blue fabric was selected for the upholstery on the seats of the assembly hall. All the chairs and desks are movable, providing a large, flat space that may be used for various purposes when council meetings are not in progress.
