A new eco-conscious model has been added to our long-selling SD-777 series of classroom furniture, now incorporating the next-generation material “TRANSWOOD®.”

Three Key Characteristics of TRANSWOOD®

Next-generation material combining eco-friendliness with high performance

The seat features TRANSWOOD®, an innovative composite that combines wood-derived materials such as thinnings (49%) with “Prasus®,” a biomass resin made from waste cooking oil (51%).
By refining wood fibers to a microscopic level and bonding them with high density, the material retains a warm, wood-like texture while providing the durability and formability required for long-term use in educational environments.

High functionality as a plastic alternative

With its excellent durability and suitability for mass production, TRANSWOOD® serves as a promising alternative to conventional plastics.
This model reduces CO₂ emissions and plastic usage during production, resulting in a product design with a significantly lower environmental impact.

Supporting a circular lifecycle

Designed with circularity in mind, TRANSWOOD® maintains its performance even after repeated recycling. Used products can be collected and reprocessed to create new materials in various forms. This enables a sustainable resource cycle that has been difficult to achieve with conventional wood, supporting the realization of a circular economy.

Eco-friendly molded plywood backrest

To help conserve natural resources, the backrest uses molded plywood made from recycled wood. In addition, component dimensions have been optimized to minimize material loss during manufacturing, further reducing waste and environmental impact.

Independent leg design that supports student concentration

This model features an independent leg structure in which the desk and chair legs are separated. This structure prevents vibrations from neighboring seats from being transmitted, allowing students to remain focused on their lessons.
In addition, when a student leans forward while seated, extra aisle space is created behind the chair, helping maintain smooth circulation in the classroom.

Dampers integrated into the chair’s moving parts control the speed during folding and storage, effectively reducing impact and noise. Combined with high-quality springs, they ensure a smooth and highly durable operating mechanism.
