Project Description

New arena touted to become Mutsu City's sports promotion base

Mutsu Maeda Arena (Mutsu City General Arena) opened in September 2020. Two arenas, the main arena and the sub arena, are arranged parallel to each other on the first floor, and they can be used as one entity by opening the walls separating them.
There are 1,058 seats on the second floor of the main arena and 60 fixed seats on the second floor of the sub arena, granting you a clear view of the entire venue. Apart from these, we were asked to create intimate spectator seats on the first floor near the court. In response to this request, Kotobuki Seating proposed and deployed the X-Press Stage and stacking chair FC-303. The arena's flooring is a cushioned sports floor type, so it was not possible to set up heavy retractable seating on it. But the deployment of a mobile stage has afforded more flexibility than retractable seating.

Easy-to-assemble mobile stage for versatile spectator seating

The X-Press Stage is a mobile assembly stage that allows you to adjust the number and height of the seats to suit your event and layout.
All the parts that make up the stage, such as legs and decks, are housed on a special trolley. The stage is transported to the desired location on a cart, and a special protective sheet is laid out to prevent damage to the floor material before proceeding with assembly. The assembly method is very simple. Simply unfold the bellows-shaped folded legs, set them at the desired height, and place the deck on top of them.
Two points make this system more flexible than retractable seating. The first is that you can adjust the height of the seating. The stage can be set up for a variety of purposes. You can use it as one wide stage by connecting many stages of the same height, as a platform for clicking photographs by varying the height of stages used, or as a tiered spectator seating by arranging stacking seats on the stage and attaching handrails on the outer sides. The second is that you can choose the size and shape of the stage per use depending on how the stages are combined. You can make the stage oblong or square-shaped, have many aisles, and create a stage perfect for your purpose and arrangement. In addition, the arrangement of seats and the number of seats can be changed freely, allowing for flexible spectator seating.
The size of one deck is 1220 x 2440 mm. The tough deck and carpet can be reversed and used for a change in the get-up of the scene.

Audience seating chairs perfect for arenas

The fixed seating chairs are the standard BLM-1500 series used as spectator seats at sports facilities. The soft blow-molded form is compact yet comfortably supports your posture while seated. The BLM-0500 series chairs fitted in the sub arena are backless, but they have the same design as the arena chairs creating a sense of unity in the space.
The stacking chairs used here are FC-303. They present you with comfort for long hours of entertainment, such as watching motion sports, watching art, or live music. The large round backrest firmly supports your upper body even if you lean or bend your body, thus maintaining your posture right. The backrest has a handhold hole at the lower end, making it easy to carry the chairs when setting up. The loop legs have a ganging (connecting) mechanism so you can quickly align chairs that look beautiful too.
The color of all chairs is black to match the arena's interior design.

Facility Overview

Mutsu Maeda Arena (Mutsu City General Arena) opened in September 2020 as a facility to replace the aging Civic Gymnasium. Spacious and with the required facilities to hold professional sports events, it is capable of hosting various sporting events, exhibitions, concerts, among others. Since its opening, the facility has hosted a wide range of activities from professional basketball games to civic use such as mama-san volleyball and coming-of-age ceremonies. It also has a disaster prevention storage warehouse and serves as a local disaster prevention base. Apart from the arena, there are bouldering facilities and multipurpose rooms, and the facility has potential to become a new base for sports promotion in Mutsu City.
