Project Description

Situated next to the Ariake Coliseum, the entirety of the Show Court is painted blue

The Show Court was constructed next to the Ariake Coliseum in the Ariake Tennis Park, one of the most famous places for tennis in all of Japan. All of the some 3,000 spectator seats use our BLM-8000 series of stadium seats. These seats offer a compact footprint while providing comfort for people of all shapes and sizes to effectively accommodate 3,000 seats in a limited space.

BLM-8000 series features a square design that maximizes the contact area with the body

The BLM-8000 series is designed so that anyone can sit comfortably and safely regardless of size. Its greatest feature is the angle and shape of the backrest.
The backrest around the waist position is perpendicular to the seating surface, with the middle and shoulder sections being angled slightly to offer natural back support and allow users to maintain a comfortable and correct posture while watching matches. It also has a gentle curve that softly hugs the entire upper body to make it easier for users to turn their bodies to keep track of the ball and players.
The seemingly flat seat is three-dimensionally designed to conform to the shape of the buttocks to distribute weight evenly when seated. Even without cushions or padding, the seats offer comfort for long periods of use.
The VIP area on the south side has dedicated armrests on both sides instead of shared armrests. The VIP seats are also 120 mm wider than the regular seats, further seating them apart.
The seats are made of high-density polyethylene, which is resistant to color fading and browning, rain, sea air, and UV rays. The hollow structure called a double shell formed by blow molding provides seats with shock absorption, strength, and comfort. The seats are colored sky blue, just as the court is colored blue.

Avoiding crowding in a 3,000-seat stadium and allowing spectators to move about freely

With 3,000 people in the stadium, it is important to have measures to reduce crowding and to be able to evacuate quickly in the case of an emergency. When the seats are raised, BLM-8000 series are compact at only 250 mm depth. This slim design allows for wide aisle space in front of the seats. Compared to seats that do not fold or have deeper dimensions, the BLM-8000 series provide a smoother flow of foot traffic and peace of mind during emergency evacuations.

Facility Overview: The Always Evolving Ariake Tennis Park

Ariake Tennis Park opened in 1983. In addition to the Ariake Coliseum with a capacity of 10,000 and the Show Court with a capacity of 3,000 people, the park has outdoor and indoor tennis courts, a grass plaza, walking paths, and a jogging course that are all easily accessible to the public, making it a popular place for daily exercise and sport for many Tokyo residents, including those from the local neighborhood. By hosting various matches, from international matches to local Tokyo matches, the park hopes to bring tennis closer to the people and provide them with more opportunities to play and watch the sport.
