Project Description

From College Gymnasium to Professional Basketball Arena

Aoyama Gakuin Memorial Hall was built to commemorate the 90th anniversary of the founding of Aoyama Gakuin University, and was completed in 1964. In 2016, it was chosen to be the home arena of team of the JAPAN PROFESSIONAL BASKETBALL LEAGUE.

In order to create seating appropriate for a venue for professional games, Kotobuki Seating incorporated Retractable seating (also known as telescopic seating).

Retractable seating produces a sense of unity throughout the whole venue.

The Retractable seating can be expanded, retracted, and moved manually. Because they can be retracted into storage when there are no games, they are not a hindrance to classes or club activities.

Because Retractable seating is a staircase-like style of seating, they make it easier to see the game than from Stacking Chairs on the floor. The first and second levels of seating are also close, providing a sense of unity throughout the whole venue.

The seats used in Retractable seating are nicknamed VISION. The two-piece type is divided into a back and a seat. The refined design is its forte. They were made by blow molding, a method in which high density polyethylene is inflated with air. When stood up, the seats are thin, with a depth of just 260 millimeters, so the width of passageways can be maintained. The people who pass through feel no stress.
