Project Description

Work was completed on the Suita City Stadium in September 2015. With a capacity of 40,000, this is the first stadium in Japan to be financed using private donations. The total construction cost of 14 billion yen was collected from individual fans and supporters of Gamba Osaka, as well as various corporate entities, mostly local businesses. Kotobuki Seating provided 40,000 BLM-8000 series seats to be fitted on the first to third levels.

These spectator seats are finished in Gamba Osaka’s team color, blue. Each level resembles the spreading of ocean waves.

Consisting of a two-piece, blow-molded seat, the BLM-8000 series was developed with the object of creating a new world standard in spectator seating. Retaining the same durability, heat-retention and cushioning as previous products, it presents a sharp new design. With a slim profile and standing only 250 mm. in depth with the seat raised, it is possible to achieve wide aisles, facilitating stress-free movement to and from the seats. All seats, including those designed for wheelchair users, are fitted with cup holders.

The wheelchair seating area provides ample room for maneuvering and is fitted with cup holders.

In addition to its ideal spectator environment, the most exciting aspect of this stadium is the proximity of the seating to the pitch. It is only 7 meters from the front row to the touchline and a mere 10 meters to the goal line, while at their lowest point, the seats are only 1.5 meters above the level of the pitch. By placing the spectators at the same eye level as the players, it creates a great affinity between the spectators and players, providing the ultimate enjoyment.

The blue of the seating, which is the team color, creates a striking contrast with the vivid green of the grass. The roof that covers the spectator seats was inspired by an image of the players with their arms around each other’s shoulders as they pause for breathe. The clear blue skies spread over the stadium, the panting of the players and the roar of the crowd, all of this can be experienced firsthand.
