Surugadai University's gymnasium has been upgraded with the birth of a new faculty

Surugadai University has a thriving athletic club scene. Surugadai University's vast campus has a variety of dedicated grounds, including athletic fields and baseball fields, as well as various facilities such as a training center.
In April 2020, with the birth of a new faculty, the School of Sports Science, new facilities were added to the gymnasium. These are the "Divider," an electric partition that divides the gymnasium into two spaces, and a large monitor installed on the wall on the stage side.

Electric Partition "Divider" Secures Space for Concentration and Number of Teaching Spaces

Until last year, when the gymnasium was used for different purposes at the same time, the center of the gymnasium was divided by a mesh ball-proof net. However, because the net has a large mesh, ping-pong balls and universal field hockey balls could pass through it. There was also the problem of reduced concentration due to the lack of a visual barrier. This is where the electric partition "Divider" was introduced.
Dividers are usually stored in a bellows-like shape near the ceiling, and lowered like a rug by pressing a button on a remote control. They are mainly used when one gymnasium is used for two classes or for club activities of different sports.
The lower 3.5 meters of the 10-meter high partition curtain is made of a solid material that is not transparent, while the upper part is made of a transparent mesh material. The solid material blocks the view so that the students do not feel that another class or competition is going on right next to them. Voices and competition noises through the dividers are hardly noticeable. By not being able to see what is going on next to them, they can concentrate on their classes and training, which is expected to lead to better performance. The mesh material at the top reduces the feeling of being blocked by the divider, and since it does not block the light from the lights, it also ensures proper brightness.

With the birth of the School of Sports Science, Surugadai University has seen an increase in the number of practical classes. The electric partition "Divider" has enabled us to increase the number of teaching spaces. It has also received high praise from the students, who say that it has become a necessity, as it can be used effectively even when it rains.

Surugadai University, founded in 1987, is a comprehensive university in the humanities and social sciences, with five faculties, five departments, and two graduate schools. The campus, located in Hanno City, Saitama Prefecture, is an attractive place to study where nature and state-of-the-art facilities are in harmony.
Located in the center of the campus is the gymnasium, with a training center on the first floor that uses the Training Doctor System to improve muscle strength and provide dietary advice, and a small gymnasium for gymnastics and dance. The second and third floor arenas have a seating capacity of 668 and are used for physical education and club activities as well as the university's main events: entrance and graduation ceremonies.
