Project Description

KANKU ICE ARENA, an international skating competition rink, is now open

Rinku Park is opposite Kansai International Airport, Japan's western gateway. This is where the KANKU ICE ARENA opened in December 2019. It has an international standard 60m x 30m main rink and two curling lanes, with a seating capacity of 1500. The facility is capable of hosting international competitions.

Assembled seating with a tiered platform and chairs

More than half of the arena's seats are assembled spectator seats only available for events. Kotobuki Seating has delivered 792 seats.
The ready-to-assemble seating includes a tier platform and stacking chairs. The tiered viewing platform is made up of three parts: flooring, frame, and handrail. To use the set up, simply lay out the frames to fit the seating, lay the flooring, and attach the handrails. Made of lightweight aluminum, it is easy to carry and assemble.

Stackable chairs for spectators

The stackable chair series FC-303D for spectators has been used on the top level of the tiered platform.
This series has the following three distinctive features.
First, the large three-dimensional curved surface that completely wraps around the back of the seated person supports the upper body. The chair's design was tested extensively to ensure it remains stable even when the person sitting on it changes direction to follow the player's movements.
Second, the back and seat are wide enough to support the entire body evenly.
Third, the 4.2kg light weight makes it easy to set up, and the handle holes at the back make it easy to carry. It is also stackable. The seat pad improves seating comfort and fits between chairs when stacked, allowing for maximum storage efficiency.
The light blue seating area has been adorned with white chairs shaped like the words 'KAN KU'. The facility is ideal for citizens to enjoy ice skating and to develop skating talent.

Facility Overview

While with the success of many ice skaters the popularity of figure skating and speed skating has grown in recent years, the number of skating rinks has declined. Izumisano City is promoting "urban development with skating rinks at its core" to overcome this situation and boost ice skating. Its main facility is the Kanku Ice Arena.
Various accessibility considerations have been made so that people of all backgrounds can use the facilities with confidence. Along with the main rink, there is a curling lane where anyone can enjoy skating or curling.
