Hannaryz Arena

Project Description

Until recently, it was usual for arena seating (in Japan) to consist of temporarily placed pipe chairs, this being true even for spectator seating at professional sports events. With the recent renewal of the Hannaryz Arena, however, it was decided to upgrade the seating in order to attract more spectators and this was achieved by using removable seating (rollback stands) that could be used or withdrawn as needed.

The placement of removable seating around the perimeter of the court in the arena makes it possible for spectators to enjoy the excitement of the game closeup. In addition to this venue, the professional basketball team, Kyoto Hannaryz, also use two other home arenas and when a game is to be played at one of the other venues, the removable seating can be transported there by truck.

The chairs are fitted with cup holders and although the seat cushions are relatively thin, they offer a high degree of comfort. The seat covering utilizes vinyl leather for easy maintenance.
