Decorative design that provides both breathability and visual lightness
OverView
“The HERRINGBONE STACKING CHAIR FC-873” is a stacking chair designed by Keita Shimizu.

This compact stacking chair incorporates a herringbone pattern—traditionally found in textile weaves—into the backrest design. The decorative pattern provides both breathability and a sense of translucency, reducing visual heaviness within the space. The chair is designed to pair seamlessly with the SD-264 desk from the same series.

Comfortable seating despite its compact size

The generous angle between the backrest and seat encourages a deep, relaxed sitting posture. The three-dimensionally contoured backrest and seat are carefully shaped to fit the body, helping reduce fatigue during extended periods of sitting. Although the overall width is a compact 460 mm, the chair maintains a comfortable 400 mm seat width. The ample seat depth also supports both writing and listening postures during class.

Optimized shape and weight for active learning

The backrest features an integrated hand-hole for easy carrying and repositioning. Its shape naturally guides the hand into a stable grip, improving handling during movement. Weighing just 4.1 kg, the lightweight design is ideal for active learning environments where frequent layout changes are required.
