Futarium from Narita Humax Cinemas, all loveseat seating for a new cinema experience

In April of 2017, a new, all loveseat theatre, Futarium, was added to Narita Humax Cinemas, a theatre located in Narita, Chiba, a town well known for being the first stop in Japan for many visitors arriving by air. This theatre was designed especially for people who want to come see a movie together as a pair, whether they’re family, lovers, or friends. Customers can see a movie here for the same price as a regular theatre, and that ease of use has made the theatre popular since its opening.

A heart formed with red and blue loveseats

The inside of Futarium, consists almost entirely of red and blue loveseats. The seats are from Ferco Seating Systems, one of Kotobuki Seating’s global group companies. When viewed from the front, the arrangement of red seats within the blue forms a heart. The I-style seats also feature embroidery in the shape of a heart around the seat number.

The seat of each loveseat is connected, and the backrests are separate for each person. Leaning against the backrest causes it to recline back, with the seat acting as a rocking chair. This allows customers to view the movie at the angle most comfortable for them. The seats also include moveable armrests, and lifting the middle armrest up creates a comfortable, sofa-like space for two people to sit. There is space between loveseats in the same row, and ample space between each seat and the seats in front of it. Customers can get to their own seats smoothly, and this spacing creates a relaxing atmosphere overall.

Reclineable luxury single seats make watching from the front row enjoyable

The front row of seats is often avoided because of how close the screen is, but in Futarium this isn’t a problem. That’s because these seats are equipped with an automatic full reclining system.

Normally, watching a movie from the front row requires customers to look up at the screen the whole time. However, these luxury single seats allow the back to be fully reclined, allowing customers to watch lying down. With the included footrests, these seats support the body all the way to the feet.
